Chocolate Hazelnut Bars Recipe
2 cups flour
1 1/3 cups brown sugar, packed firm
3/4 cup butter
1 1/4 cups hazelnuts, toasted, chopped
3/4 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed firm
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 – 12 ounce bag dark chocolate morsels
nonstick pan spray
Chocolate Hazelnut Bars Preparation:
Preheat your oven to 350° F. Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with nonstick vegetable spray.
In a large mixing bowl combine the flour and brown sugar, mix well.
Add 3/4 cup of cold butter and cut in with a fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the chopped nuts.
Press crumbs into the bottom of prepared pan.
In a large saucepan combine 3/4 cup of butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar, cook over medium heat stirring constantly until mixture is smooth.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.
Pour heated mixture over the top of crumbs and spread evenly.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Remove from oven and place baking dish on a wire rack to cool.
Evenly sprinkle the dark chocolate morsels over top of baked hazelnut bars.
Let set for 2 minutes to melt before smoothing the chocolate out.
Cool completely before cutting and serving.
Recipe Makes about 24 – 36 chocolate hazelnut bars.
